Cody Darrah Teams With Motorguard Motorsport For Australian Summer
Motorguard Media posted Friday December 11, 2009.

Motorguard Motorsport have great pleasure in confirming American Cody Darrah will drive the team's USA 1 Maxim Sprintcar at a number of selected events during the Australian Summer season starting December 26 at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway (BIS).

Twenty year old Darrah from Red Lion Pennsylvania, was an emerging talent a little over a year ago but has exploded onto the scene in recent months after setting quick time at the Knoxville Nationals at his first attempt and backing it up with his first World Of Outlaws victory in the Summer Nationals at Williams Grove in October. That result caught the attention of Kasey Kahne Racing and Cody was afforded the opportunity to drive the famed KKR #19 at the World Finals Outlaw show at Lowes Motor Speedway, an opportunity that has led to a fully funded drive with the team for the 2010 World Of Outlaws season.

Motorguard Motorsport team principle John Weatherall, who initially began talks with Darrah for a trip to Australia during the middle of the American season, is excited at the prospect of having one of the world's hottest young Sprintcar drivers join his team.

"There's no question Cody has been the talk of Sprintcar racing the past few months and for very good reason, he's a great young talent and is grabbing every opportunity placed before him with both hands, we're very much looking forward to having him drive our USA 1 car through the Christmas and New Year period". John commented.

"John Kelly (BIS Promoter) has been helping us put this deal together and as you know he supports Sprintcar racing in Qld immensely by running some additional big races this time of year so we'll be concentrating primarily on the International Sprintcar events in Brisbane, with Cody joining Brent and Bud Kaeding as the three American drivers at those races."

"We'll also run the Capalaba Wreckers Sprintcar Cup, Performance Wholesale World Series and Australian Sprintcar Open events in January before Cody heads back home to the States. Archerfield is obviously a bit different from places like Williams Grove where Cody runs a lot but we're confident he'll quickly adapt to the smaller track and put on a great show for the fans."

With Cody escaping the winter cold of Pennsylvania and heading to the warm sunshine of a Brisbane summer, he will also join a somewhat illustrious list of drivers that have earned themselves a ride with the Motorguard Motorsport team.

"Yeah, you're right; we have had some great drivers in our cars over the years. Guys like Brooke Tatnell, Randy Hannagan, Garry Brazier, Darryn Pittman, Mike Carber and PJ Chesson have all driven for us and we've had a great time with them not only at the track but also away from the races." John added.

Add to that list the names Andrew Scheuerle, Trevor Green, Todd Wanless and the Super-Sub Benny Wright and it's clear Motorguard Motorsport has often enjoyed top flight drivers in their cars and had a great deal of success with them.

Cody arrives in Australia just prior to Christmas Day and will compete in a minimum of six nights of racing with the team during his two week stay before heading back to the United States to compete in the Chili Bowl Midget event in Tulsa Oklahoma.
