| Usa Ace Shooting For Three In A Row At Archerfield |
Jak posted Friday January 2, 2009.
On Saturday night January 3, American Mike Carber will be shooting for a clean sweep of the three Sprintcar International events at Archerfield this summer, the USA ace making Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) his own in the past week with two impressive victories and a third now seemingly his for the taking.
There are never any guarantees in sport, but Carber is certainly the form driver in Qld at the moment. On this his third tour of Australia, Carber has two wins, four podiums and five top five finishes collectively from his past six events in the Motorguard Motorsport USA 1 Maxim, the best of any competitor on the tough Qld circuit.
Multiple-time King Of California Sprintcar Series winner Brent Kaeding came close to denying Carber a second win on Thursday night January 1 at BIS, the perennial visitor to Australia and crowd favourite representing the biggest threat to Carber achieving a rare "three-peat" of victories this weekend. Local aces Andrew Scheuerle, Todd Wanless and Pete Thorley along with Darrell Hodges and Darren Jensen head a strong Qld contingent that will also be determined to break the American's run of success.
Another victory on Saturday night would also catapult Carber even further up the list of contenders for the three Wanless World Series Sprintcars and Australian Sprintcar Open events at BIS next week, events that have attracted the likes of World Of Outlaws Champion Donny Schatz, Outlaws regular Daryn Pittman, Danny Smith from Indiana and Australia's top three sprintcar drivers in Brooke Tatnell, Robbie Farr and Max Dumesny.
