Carber Two For Two Post-christmas At Archerfield
Jak posted Friday January 2, 2009.

American Mike Carber posted his second Sprintcar International Feature win in a week at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) on Thursday night January 1, the Pennsylvania young gun holding out Californian veteran Brent Kaeding in a race for the ages at the Archerfield raceway.

Carber was near perfect on the night, only Pete Thorley posting the fastest time of the hot lap sessions prevented him from sweeping the program, with Carber winning both his qualifying Heat races and the six lap Dash to start the main event from the pole.

If ever there was a perfect illustration of two drivers using two different racing lines to find the fastest way around a slick, 1/4 mile Speedway, this was it. Lap after lap Carber hugged the bottom of the track in the Motorguard Motorsport USA 1 Maxim while Kaeding ran the top in his #69 Kaedings Performance/Action Metal Recyclers Maxim, and for all money it looked like Kaeding may eventually win the battle. However a smart piece of driving by Carber in lapped traffic with just a few laps remaining was the difference in the end, with Carber winning the thirty lap Feature event by a margin of just over two seconds.

Mike and the Motorguard Motorsport team return to Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway on January 3 for the final of the three USA Sprintcar events at the Archerfield complex before competing in three Wanless World Series Sprintcars events at the venue on January 7, 9 and 10, culminating in the fifty lap $20,000 to win Australian Sprintcar Open.
