Brazier, Wright To Steer Motorguard Motorsport Maxims To Season End
Motorguard Media posted Wednesday April 16, 2008.

With just over a month left until the 2007/08 racing season comes to a close, the Motorguard Motorsport team have confirmed that both Garry Brazier and Ben Wright will steer the team's #95 Maxim sprintcars at the remaining Qld events on their race schedule.

Brazier and Wright have shared the driving duties throughout the current season, with Brazier the lead driver for the team and Wright filling the role of "Super Sub" whenever other commitments have prevented Brazier from competing in Qld. The arrangement has been a successful one for the team, no more evident than when Wright finished second in Round 9 of the Comp Cams Series recently to keep the team in the running for a top three finish in the Series' Car Owners Championship.

Team principle John Weatherall praised both his drivers this week for their efforts behind the wheel during the season.

"There's not much more you can say about Garry that hasn't been said before, everyone knows what a talent he is in a sprintcar and we feel very fortunate to have him drive for our team. Garry brings a lot of experience in sprintcar racing with him and a determination to do the very best he can out on the race track and I believe that has had a positive effect on our whole team this season."

"Young Benny has been around for a few years now and actually gave us a pretty good run for our money in last season's Championship when we had Andrew (Scheuerle) driving for us. He's doing some good things with his professional career at the moment which has prevented him from running the family car on a regular basis this season so we offered him the drive for when Garry is unavailable. Like Garry, Ben's really good on the equipment and has done a great job in keeping us in the points chase this year."

Just five events remain on the team's schedule for the season, beginning with the inaugural running of the Crispy Memorial Classic at Towoomba's Charlton Raceway this Saturday night April 19, followed by the Qld Sprintcar Title and three Comp Cams events at Brisbane International Speedway.

"Ben will run the car for us this week in Toowoomba as Garry will be in Sydney for the NSW Title at Parramatta." Weatherall explained. "Like many others in Speedway, especially in Qld, Crispy was a close personal friend of ours for many years and we were very saddened when we lost him back in February. It's a nice thing that the Toowoomba promoters are doing in running an event in his honour and I'm sure there'll be plenty of stories about our old mate being re-lived in the pits this weekend."

"Garry will be back for the Qld Title at Archerfield next weekend and then most likely for the remaining Comp Cams races, pending his availability for all of them, but at this point we expect to have him in the car for those races as well. I'd like to think we're in with as good a chance as anyone at each of the races that are left this season, we'll just have to wait and see how it all pans out, but with Garry and Ben driving for our team I reckon we're in a pretty good position don't you?"

Five races left, a Qld Title on the line and a place in the top three in the Car Owners Championship on offer. It's an exciting month ahead for the Motorguard Motorsport team!
